How you got into yoga:

I got into yoga in college, but it didn’t really resonate until I’d finished graduate school. I left a job that I didn’t like, and spontaneously hopped on a plane to the Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas. From the very first moment there, I was hooked; it was like taking off a layer and uncovering something that had been there all along.

Who/what inspires you?

The World Health Organization estimates that depression will be the second biggest health problem on our planet by the year 2020—and number one by the year 2030. We’re incredibly fortunate to have yoga to help balance that. We are all connected; we’re in this together. What inspires me is blending the tools of yoga, mindfulness, and psychology to create global health.
